A peek into our week
Outside of Christmas, I think this time of year is my fave. I love when the temps are the perfect sweet spot between cool & hot (thank goodness because we were without AC several days this week… more on that below), the flowers start waking up & I can wear all the flowy dresses (a must-have during pregnancy). Plus, it’s crawfish season!
Speaking of… this weekend is CGQ’s family’s annual crawfish boil. I’ve been trying to wrack my brain all week for something I can bring & finally settled on spinach dip & firecrackers. I frequently turn to it when I need a good party app, but you know what they say, if it’s not broke don’t fix it!
Now onto FIVE things that matter (at least to me!)…
1. What I’m doing for my gut health…
A probiotic, dairy-free yogurt. I eat a spoonful every morning & since I’ve been taking it, I’ve noticed improved digestion. It’s also supposed to help with bloating, but I can’t really speak to that aspect currently (AKA because of baby). You could also take a probiotic for similar effects, but Coconut Cult is much more concentrated. I bounce between the chocolate & strawberry flavors - basically whatever our local health store, Basic Foods, has in stock.
2. What I’m wanting for our house…
Monogrammed guest pillowcases. We spent the night at Madison’s while our AC unit was getting replaced (womp, womp, womp!) this week & I love the pillowcases in her guest bedroom. Such a fun touch! Our friends over at Four Everything Embroidery did them for her.
3. What I’m drinking as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up…
A mocktail “Paloma.” Somehow my mom ended up with grapefruit juice in her H-E-B curbside order & gave it to us, so I did a splash of that + a scoop of TDW Organic Lemonade & topped it off with sparkling water. I rarely drank pre-pregnancy, so my tastebuds aren’t the most alcohol versed, but this beverage gives me strong happy hour vibes!
4. What I’m doing to prepare for baby…
Well, I guess it’s actually more of what CGQ is doing because he’s running point on a lot of the projects, but we’re making progress!
Nursery paint secured - will share what color we went with soon. The majority of votes on my IG poll were team green… time will tell if they are right or wrong ;)
Crib secured - we just need to assemble it, but we went with a classic! It’s also on sale right now if you’re in the market for one.
Armoire secured - we snagged it off Facebook marketplace over the holidays. CGQ is giving it a facelift with a fresh coat of paint.
Next thing I hope to conquer is stroller shopping. There are so many dang options out there that are also all named very similar things & it feels incredibly overwhelming. I’ve been researching, but if anyone has a fave, I’m all ears. I’d love to try to do a low-toxic option but am keeping our options open.
5. What I’m using to help our flowers thrive…
This miracle working fertilizer. We discovered this fertilizer back in the wedding prep days (we were supposed to get married in my parents’ backyard… rain that day had other plans, though!) & wowee does this stuff work! My mom has been really consistent about using the fertilizer & the plants in their backyard have seriously never looked better. So we are hopping on the train at our house. We get the fertilizer from Sutherland’s & it’s organic, so no worries of chemicals or burning your plants.
Until next time,
Maret

Have you shopped at Fred Millers in Nederland. Great baby items there. Chris can order items for you too!! Got all my baby things there 34 years ago.
