The best year of my life!
It’s wild how quickly life can change.
Just 365 days ago this week, I was sitting on a barstool in my parents’ kitchen, crying to my mom about how there were no good guys left. I had pretty much lost all hope I’d find the love of my life & I certainly doubted I’d find him in Beaumont after not having any luck in the big city (Dallas).
God proved me wrong, which is certainly not the first time that’s happened.
The next day, a longtime family friend, Sandi, stopped me at church (she didn’t even know I’d moved back!) & proceeded to tell me she wanted to set me up with a guy. She said he was a nice guy, but I had zero other details. I didn’t know his name, didn’t see a picture. Something told me to trust her judgment & say “yes” to the set-up, though.
That week we went on our first date to Buckstin, a brewery with the best pizza, & the rest was history. I ate about two bites of a slice of pizza & talked CGQ’s ears off… I’m pretty sure he got maybe two whole sentences in that night. The nerves definitely got the best of me. Lucky for me, he was willing to look past it!
So, of course, we went back to where it all began this week! Now, just 71 days until we’re (officially) each other’s “forevers”!
Now onto FIVE things that matter (at least to me!)…
1. What I’m eating…
This healthier take on King Ranch Casserole. Any Defined Dish recipe is usually a win in our books! My mom made this the other night & we all loved it.
2. What I’m DIYing at CGQ’s house…
The skirt on his (soon to be our!) couch. I’ve been way behind on sharing home content, but I plan to carve out time this weekend to catch up. In the meantime, this is a hack I tried the other week. I should’ve steamed the skirt before I did it, but ya DIY & ya learn.
3. What I’m crossing off my wedding to do list…
Scheduling engagement photos, finalizing invitations & brainstorming florals. It was a super productive wedding week! We’re likely behind on getting our engagement photos done (short engagement problems), but better late than never. I’m thinking of them as a good chance to meet our photographer & get “warmed up” in front of the camera before our big day, plus some framers! I also officially ordered our invites & had the best meeting with our florist. I’ve dubbed him our “wedding angel,” haha. I can’t wait to share more!
4. What I’m reordering…
These less-than-$10 gold hoops. I somehow misplaced all the jewelry I packed for Colorado (I’m not even sure it made it into my luggage for the trip), which is classic me, oops! Thank goodness these don’t break the bank.
5. What I’m satisfying my sweet tooth with…
These chocolate peanut butter rice crispy bites. Unfortunately, they have to be imported (haha) into Beaumont, but they are so yummy & the perfect size for when you want something sweet before bed.
Until next time,
Maret
